Side Mirror

Somewhere along the way someone replaced the passenger side mirror. As is par for the course with this car, they did a terrible job, and used the wrong parts. Hawks to the rescue again. more here

First things first. To remove the whole mirror assembly from the car would require me to remove the inner door panel, and I really didn't want to do that. These old cars are finicky and it's best to leave well enough alone. Thankfully I was able to remove the glass without too much effort, and more importantly, without breaking it into a million small shards of glass. All it took was some prying and patience.

So I found this beauty at the link above. It looks good, it came fast, and it fits great. Now I just had to remove the inner plastic so I could scrape away the old adhesive, clean up the part, and give a fresh start for reinstallation.

So I bought this stuff to stick the mirror back on. Was it the correct stuff for this application? I don't know. Is that new mirror ever coming off, even with dynamite? Probably not. Guess I'd better not break it. more here

Once I was happy with the positioning, I taped it in place and left it for 24 hours.
